My BuddyAThon Wrap Up

Hey everyone! Really sorry for the delay in this post… I have no other excuse other than I started reading The Book Thief and I got lost in the story! This is a quick wrap up of my BuddyAThon readathon, you can check out my TBR and introduction post here.

Total books on TBR: 5
Total books read: 5

I managed to read all 5 books I had on my TBR for this ReadAThon! Quite impressed as it took place over the space of a week. The books I chose were shorter in length, but I was still happy with what I achieved. Check out the post linked above for a quick description of each book if you’re interested.

1. Buddy read a book
Title: The Woman in Cabin 10
Author: Ruth Ware
Paperback: 352 pages
Rating: 3.67/5
My rating: 3.5 star rating

I enjoyed this book. I had a few issues with it, which I’ll lay out in my full review to come. It was a slower start for me and I wasn’t sure I liked it, however I did get more engrossed in the story towards the end, finishing it early.

2. Pick a book starting with your buddy’s initial
Title: Justice Buried
Author: Hilary Thompson
Ebook: 283 pages
Rating: 3.85/5
My rating: 3 star rating

This was one of the only books on my TBR that started with J, however I still did enjoy the book. I’m not 100% sure I’ll continue the series, but it depends what reading mood I’m in.

3. Pick a book with your buddy’s favourite colour
Title: The One Memory of Flora Banks
Author: Emily Barr
Paperback: 303 pages
Rating: 3.67/5
My rating: 3 star rating

I had wanted to read this book for a long time and for some reason had been putting it off. With all the hype lately due to it’s release in the US, I decided it was time to pick it up. I enjoyed it, but found it quite repetitive at times. It was an interesting concept, however.

4. Pick 3 books, your buddy picks one
Title: If I Was Your Girl
Author: Meredith Russo
Paperback: 304 pages
Rating: 4.04/5
My rating: 4 star rating

Out of the three given, my buddy chose this book. I was really glad, this has also been on my TBR for way too long. I really enjoyed this book, it’s an essential and there isn’t enough representation of transgender teens in YA.

5. Guilty pleasure book/book you’ve been meaning to read for a while
Title: History Is All You Left Me
Author: Adam Silvera
Paperback: 294 pages
Rating: 4.20/5
My rating: 5 star rating

There’s not much I can say about this book apart from it was incredible. I really loved it, as heartbreaking as it was. I’ll go in to more detail in my review, but to me, the hype was worth it.

So, during this readathon, I read a total of 1,536 pages. I’m still quite impressed with this, and considering the fact that I was coming out of a reading slump, it worked out quite well. I really enjoyed this readathon and definitely hope to participate in more in the future.

Also, on a side note, if anyone is interested in doing some buddy reads with me or even just being buddies, let me know! You can either contact me via twitter (@ObliviousApple) or through my contact form on this site.
