Hey everyone! This year I decided I wanted to join in more Readathons, I didn’t really do any last year. I really enjoy them and they encourage me to pick up books that I’ve been wanting to read but putting off for one reason or the other! When I saw Read-O-Rama on Twitter, I decided I wanted to join!
Their twitter is over at @readorama if you want to check it out or join in. There are 8 challenges in this round, resulting in 7 books. Obviously you just read as much as you can, there’s nothing wrong in only managing to read 3 or 4, everyone reads at a different pace! It’s all about challenging you.
- Read 7 books
This one should be easy enough to complete if I complete the other 7 challenges!
2. Read a book with ‘rama’ in the title/author name
Cinder works perfectly for this, ‘rama’ coming in the authors name, Marissa Meyer. This is a book that’s completely hyped on booktube and something I’ve been wanting to read for a long time. I’m so excited for it, but for some reason keep setting it aside and picking up other books!
3. Read a book with an animal on the cover
Again, this is another book I bought a long time ago and have been so excited to read, yet never got around to it. It’s also part of my yearly challenges, the reason I actually came across the book in the first place. I’m so excited for this and to read something from this perspective, it should be fantastic!
4. Read a book where the main character shares your initial
I’m ashamed to say I’m one of ‘those’ people who have yet to read the Shadowhunter series. I’ve heard nothing but good things and I own the whole ‘City of Bones’ series along with Lady Midnight. I plan to read the entire series in order of publication, so I have a lot of reading to do. No time like the present to get started!
5. Book with Irish elements
This book is set in Northern Ireland. It’s another one that’s on my yearly challenge list, so another two birds, one stone situation. I don’t know a huge amount about this book, I do know when originally looking for a book to fill the spot in my yearly challenge, this one peaked my interest. I’m pretty sure it’s a mystery/thriller book, so I look forward to the change and break away from fantasy.
6. Book about an illness
Okay, so I’ve avoided this book for a while following all the controversy surrounding this book. I still don’t agree with a lot of the things in this book (from what I’ve heard), but I own it and therefore still want to read it and form my own opinions. I’ve yet to read the book, watch the film and surprisingly, haven’t been completely spoiled (beyond the videos etc I’ve watched which explain the negativity surrounding this book). I will be entering it with a critical eye.
7. Start a new series
When I first heard about this book, I was SO excited for it. I ordered it straight away and (not so) patiently checked the postbox every single day waiting for it to arrive. When it did, I was so happy and left it at the side of my bed (where I leave all my ‘next to read’ books). Unfortunately, since then it has been moved with the other books (as the pile got too large) and apparently forgotten about. But I really want to get in to this book!
8. Read a book blind
I received a copy of this book through the post from the publisher. I have heard of it on booktube etc, but all I know is that it features a main character with amnesia. I don’t know anthing else or what the ‘one memory’ is. I’m quite excited to get in to this, it should be good!
So that’s my TBR for Read-O-Rama! As you can see, I’m using it as an ‘excuse’ to knock out a lot of fantastic books I’ve been meaning to start for a long time and for some reason keep avoiding. I’m starting a few new series’ when I’m still currently in at least 9 series’, so I’m digging myself quite a hole here but with so many amazing books out there, I can’t help it!
I’m excited for this one and hope it goes well. You can check out my progress over on my Twitter, @ObliviousApple. Come chat to me and let me know what you’re reading!
Love & Laughter,
