Hey everyone! Today we’re looking at ‘You’ by Caroline Kepnes, another book that was on my January TBR! I actually listened to this one via Audible as I was doing some DIY projects, so it took a little longer than it probably would have taken if I was to read it.

When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.
There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.
As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.
This was absolutely fascinating. I listened to this in audiobook form so it took me a little longer than usual to finish this.
You’re following the story from the main characters perspective. He runs a book shop and one day a girl called Bec comes in. They have a short chat and he decides he likes her. She uses her credit card to pay and he googles her name, it all starts to carry on from there! In this story, you’re following a stalker. It’s a really interesting perspective because you don’t want to like him and his thoughts and opinions are twisted, but sometimes you find yourself feeling sorry for him!
This story is quite graphic in terms of sexual scenes and other things, so I would be aware of that before reading, if that bothers you. I have never read a book like this before, it was definitely a new perspective for me!
It does say You#1 so I’m wondering if there’s going to be a second book. I would definitely read it if so!
